What is a mystery pack?
Updated 27 October 2026
A mystery pack is a list of real products, each with a value and a chance. You pay the pack's price, one item from the list is picked at random by those chances, and it is yours. On KRUNA there are 61 packs, from $0.10 to $100.00 an open.
Online they are also called mystery boxes or loot boxes. The difference between a fair one and a bad one is what you can check: whether the odds are published, whether the pick can be verified, and whether a win can be turned back into money at its full value.

What you see before you open
Every pack page lists every item it holds, its value and its exact chance per open. Here are the five most valuable items in Apple Bite, a $10.00 pack with 17 items:
Apple Vision Pro0.0080% · 1 in 12,500$4,023.90
Apple MacBook Pro M4 Pro 16"0.015% · 1 in 6,667$2,750.00
Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max 1TB Cosmic Orange0.030% · 1 in 3,333$1,760.00
Apple iPad Pro M5 11"0.050% · 1 in 2,000$1,100.00
Apple Watch Ultra 20.080% · 1 in 1,250$799.00
Bar length is the item's value; the line under each name is its chance per open. Taken from the live pack when this page was loaded.
The rest of the list is cheaper items, which come up far more often. Together they make the pack's average return: $8.50 per open, 85% of the price.
How the item is picked
Before you open anything, KRUNA commits to a secret server seed and shows you its SHA-256 fingerprint. You have a client seed of your own, which you can change at any time. Each open combines the two with a counter (the nonce) through HMAC-SHA256 and turns the result into a number between 0 and 1. That number lands in one item's share of the list.
When you start a new seed pair, the old server seed is revealed, so every open made with it can be recomputed by anyone. That is what provably fair means.
What the house keeps
Paid packs are built to return about 85% of their price on average, which leaves a house edge of about 15%. The catalogue refuses any paid pack with an edge under 10%. The average is over many opens: one open can return a fraction of the price or many times it.
In Apple Bite, 9.8% of opens give an item worth at least the price.

What you can do with a win
- Sell it back instantly to your balance for 100% of its listed value. There is no sell-back fee, so the edge in the odds is the whole margin.
- Keep it in your inventory, or put it up in the Upgrader for a chance at a more valuable item.
- Shipping of physical items is not open yet; until it is, a win is kept or sold back.
Before you start
- Treat a pack as entertainment with a price, not as a way to make money. Over many opens you get back less than you pay.
- Look at the chance of the item you want, not only its value. A cheap pack with a car in it is a very long shot, and the table says exactly how long.
- You must be 18 or older, and it is up to you to check that you may play where you live.
Questions
- Are mystery packs legit?
- A pack is only as honest as what you can check. On KRUNA the full odds table is on every pack page, every open can be recomputed from its seeds, and a win sells back at its full listed value.
- Can you win the top prize from a cheap pack?
- Yes, but rarely. The chance is printed next to it. In Apple Bite the top item comes up 1 in 12,500 opens.
- Do you get back what you spend?
- Not on average. Packs return about 85% of their price over many opens; the house-edge page lists every pack's own figure.
