How the upgrader works
Updated 27 October 2026
The upgrader trades what you put up for one roll at a more valuable product. Win and you get the target item; miss and what you put up is gone. The chance is set by one formula, and you see it before you press Upgrade.

The formula
chance = value put up ÷ target's value × 0.85
The 0.85 is the 15% house edge, the same as a pack. On average an upgrade returns 85% of what is put up.

The further you jump, the lower the chance; on average every jump returns the same 85%.
Limits
- The target must be worth more than what you put up, and nothing rolls under a 1% chance, which caps a jump at about ×85.
- Targets go up to $5,000.00.
- Put up items from your inventory (up to 100 at once) or money from your balance (at least $0.10), not both in one roll.
- Pick which end of the ring wins (under or over). The odds are identical either way.
Fairness
The roll uses your seed pair and nonce, the same as a pack open, and the history panel shows every upgrade's seeds. Items won in free packs stay marked free after an upgrade: selling the prize adds to your unplayed balance, as selling the free item would have.
Questions
- What are the odds on the upgrader?
- Value put up ÷ target value × 0.85. Put up $10 for a $20 item and the chance is 42.5%.
- Is it better to upgrade or open a pack?
- Both keep 15% on average. The upgrader lets you aim at one exact item; a pack gives a spread of outcomes.
- Does upgrading with balance count toward ranks?
- Yes. A balance upgrade is recorded like a pack purchase and counts toward rank, the Weekly Race and playthrough. An item upgrade moves no money and counts for nothing new.
